Comprehensive Dentistry

Providing comprehensive oral healthcare is more than treating patients for specific tooth or gum problems. Comprehensive care consists of a range of services that treat the mouth, neck, head, and jaw. Dr. Elisa S. Liberto, DMD, FAGD provides continuity of service to not only care for oral health but also to optimize overall health. Yearly exams enable Dr. Liberto to have the ability to evaluate and treat problems before they affect overall health. The mouth often serves as a window to allow the detection of other health problems like heart disease, diabetes, and some cancers. Dr. Liberto will examine your mouth as its own complex machine, viewing each part on its own as well as in relationship to the system as a whole. Dr. Liberto observes both functional and aesthetic components and will treat dysfunction or damage with a full range of preventative, restorative, and cosmetic services to help optimize oral health beautiful long-lasting results.

What Can New Patients Expect?

The new patient experience reflects Dr. Liberto's commitment to providing a complete range of oral healthcare services. For new patients, the initial visit to our Warwick office involves a thorough, interactive oral examination that includes:

Tooth health – As a Family and General Restorative dentist, Dr. Liberto pays close attention to hereditary and development concerns as well as examines the integrity of existing restorations.

Bite evaluation – A healthy bite is important in many aspects besides cosmetic. Early detection of bite (or occlusal) problems is a main focus of our restorative family dental practice.

Oral cancer screening – Inspecting the soft tissue within the mouth at every exam gives Dr. Liberto the ability to spot pigment and surface changes.

Gum tissue assessment – Gum disease is a silent disease. Many patients don’t know they have it until it is diagnosed. Early detection can minimize the destruction caused by this disease and prevent it from causing costly and irreversible damage.  Regular screening can give patients the opportunity to correct problem areas before it is too late.

Assessment of head and neck muscles to screen for TMJ problems – TMD (temporomandibular joint dysfunction) creates pain in and around the jaw muscles, jaw joint (TMJ - temporomandibular joint) and head and neck areas. Treatment for TMD will alleviate the pain and discomfort.

Dr. Liberto educates her patients and will develop a treatment plan based on the patient’s informed oral health decisions. Each treatment plan is crafted to achieve and maintain a high standard of oral health and aesthetics. A typical treatment plan will address any existing problems such as tooth damage or decay, while saving as many healthy teeth as possible, with the ultimate goal of preserving each patient's dentition throughout his or her life. In complicated cases where multiple treatments are needed, each individual treatment is prioritized in a coordinated effort to improve the patient's oral health quickly and efficiently.
