Warwick Implant Dentistry: Achieve the Smile you've Always Wanted

Having one or more missing teeth can create a wide variety of problems.  It can restrict the diet, allow for shifting and overload of the remaining teeth, exacerbate TMJ pain, and contribute to self-esteem problems. There are several methods available to replace missing teeth, but only dental implants provide a permanent, fixed solution.  Dr. Elisa Liberto will develop a custom treatment plan for qualifying patients that involves restoring occlusal (bite) stability, determine  the best placement position, and of couse, create the most aesthetic final restoration.

Benefits to Choosing Dental ImplantsElise S. Liberto, DMD, FAGD

People choose dental implants for a variety of reasons. This advanced dental technology is the most ideal option to provide long-lasting oral health benefits.   Dental implants can be utilized to achieve the following goals:

- Aesthetic improvement of your smile with restorations that blend in with your natural teeth.

- Resolution of functional problems associated with chewing and possibly digestion.

- A stable and secure fit of removable dentures and fixed bridges for a better, more comfortable result without affecting neighboring teeth.

- Prevention of inevitable shifting of teeth that gradually happens when teeth are removed and not replaced.

- Avoidance of  early facial aging by maintaining the integrity of the facial structure.

- Prevention of  bone loss associated with the loss of teeth.

What's Involved in Getting Dental Implants?

At the initial consultation, Dr. Liberto listens to patient concerns and educates patients on the process of getting dental implants. It is important that patients make informed decisions about their oral health. Patient treatment plans will involve a periodontist or oral surgeon for placement. Current oral health conditions will determine the exact process.

Dental implant placement requires an oral examination, x-rays, and impressions taken of your jaw and teeth. The x-rays are used to determine the best locations in which to place the implants. The impressions are used to create an exact fit of implant-borne restorations. The restorations are created at a local laboratory with a focus on optimal aesthetic and functional value.

Once the implants have fused to the bone (osseointegration) and the gums have healed, the tooth restorations are attached to an abutment that is fitted to the top of the dental implant. If you have dental implant supported dentures, which are retained by the implants, you will visit your dentist twice a year for a complete cleaning. Patients with retained dentures or bridgework will receive instruction on how to remove the restoration for nightly cleanings.
